Ferris State University needed assistance communicating course and program information more accurately than the existing print catalog allowed. ddm proposed a web-based database solution. This allows not only a quick, efficient, and broad distribution of the catalog information, but also allows Ferris the opportunity and flexibility of being able to make changes.
ddm provided Ferris with a method to quickly and easily change the contents of the course catalog database - without having to learn database or web programmning. It is now possible for authorized users to log in and change database content via a series of web forms. Type here and "submit." That's all it takes. The online catalog stays accurate because it's easy for the right people to make the right kind of changes.
Accurate online data is one thing, but getting that back to print has traditionally been a massive undertaking. Version 2 of this site involves not only speeding up the page delivery, but also dynamically creating PDFs of the program requirements. Data is no entered only once and is immediatly available in in a readily printable format. Combining this new function with ddm's own Paperclik product (www.paperclik.com) allows FSU staff to prepare an instant, customized course catalog ready for whomever needs it.
