Grand Rapids Chair Company is a leading provider of chairs and tables for commercial environments including restaurants, hotels, hospitals, medical offices, corporations, arenas, banks, casinos, churches, cruise ships, malls, stadiums, theaters – and anywhere else hospitality is extended to guests. The company makes a wide range of chairs and barstools in wood, metal and aluminum styles, plus steel-base tables with a tremendous variety of surface and edge options.
The challenge for Grand Rapids Chair was to present this extensive product offering in a useful format. The current site architecture and presentation created a number of challenges in finding products regardless of whether a person already knew what they were looking for. In addition, maintaining current and accurate data needed to be improved from the previous platform.
ddm identified a complete solution that addressed:
- re-architecture of the site that would improve product accessibility and display
- appropriate emphasis on their ability to customize
- a visual redesign
- a more advanced image gallery (automatically linking to relevant product pages)
- improved approach to finding sales representatives
- code and URLs optimized for search engines
- ability for client to update content (product and text)
This more strategic approach addressed specific business recommendations: involving design, programming, some data entry, and testing.
A new site was launched in June 2009 -- http://grandrapidschair.com. Initial results have been very positive and the client can manage day-to-day site updates without outside assistance through ddm's CMS.
