The Rapid's entrance to Social Media

Twitter and Facebook open new avenues of communication for The Rapid

Opportunity:

The Rapid wanted to connect with the decision makers within the Grand Rapids metro area community to be able to share information about The Rapid, including route changes, millage information, community updates, etc.

Our Solution:

The Rapid deployed an initial social media campaign on two networks: Facebook and Twitter. We launched their Facebook Page and Twitter profile in January 2009 to connect with interested members of the Grand Rapids metro area community, as well as nationally. Using both formats enables The Rapid to connect with individuals in the format they prefer.

Results:

In the first two weeks, The Rapid picked up 116 followers on Twitter and 86 fans on Facebook. It has also seen a great response from the community in regards to its presence on the social networks. Facebook fans have posted on the wall, “Without The Rapid, I would have no way to get around Grand Rapids. I take it to school everyday and work.” Twitter fans have respond, “If you live in Grand Rapids or go to GVSU, you need to follow @TheRapid.”
